Winning Elections In Nevada
It's Time to Stop Fighting and Campaign Together
We, who believe in limited government, fiscal sanity, and sovereignty of each individual, have a decision to make before November 2022 elections. The upcoming election cycle may be our last chance to avoid plunging our state and our futures into the chasm opening in our current political path. Nevadans have the power to turn state politics around, but we must act decisively. If we don't, we create a polarization of party politics which is dangerous for all Nevadans and serves only to create chaos.
History tells us the American way, as stated in the Constitution, is to favor the highest decision-making by (1) individual citizens, (2) local government over State and National government, (3) State over National government, and then, with much reluctance, the (4) National government. The country, however, is going in a different direction; one which will not favor the American people. We cannot allow this to happen in Nevada and we have the means via the non-partisan vote to stop it. But while Republicans and Democrats chase each other, ad nauseum, non-partisans have quietly gained a stronghold in our state as well as nationally. Simply put, while Republicans focus their virulent rhetoric on those who should be politically natural allies predicated on either a specific orthodoxy or favored candidate, they've sacrificed common sense and a solid plan to unite the party. It is no wonder that non-partisan voters are the fastest growing party in our state.
To give readers an idea of how powerful the non-partisan vote is, we look to the last cycle, in Nevada. Non-partisans voted by splitting their ballots. In Washoe, those non-partisans chose Biden (D) but returned Amodei (R) to the House. According to our data they split their vote between the political parties and voted issues. This voting bloc will make a difference in upcoming Nevada elections, and the major party that can attract this voting bloc will be the winners.
It is decision time for Nevadans. We must stop the infighting and unite. Republicans seem to be more concerned with rooting out heresy and purging our respective organizations of the apostates than growing our family. We surround ourselves with folks that think just like us and assume that “everybody” must think like us or else. These behaviors are not the recipe for electoral success, especially in Nevada.
Republicans must (not should) engage non-partisans and fellow Republicans who share some but not all of their views.
The Nevada Wins PAC polled non-partisan voters (over 300,000 calls) over the past year. We believe that we have a good idea of how campaigns should approach non-partisans and are fielding 25 paid interns to canvass this voting bloc in crucial state legislative districts currently held by Democrats. We are also providing data support to those campaigns to assist them in doing the same as part of their electioneering process.
But we need everyone to participate in order to achieve success. We each must take an active role and reach out to non-partisans as well as other Republicans, and, yes, even Democrats. We cannot hope to persuade people by either not speaking with them or yelling at them. And if we do not start doing so now, it may be too late. And keep in mind that we are not trying to have them change their registration or even persuade them to change positions on all issues. We want and need them to vote with us.
Republicans cannot achieve majorities in the State Legislature or win Statewide races without uniting and taking an active role in the vote process.
Let's turn Nevada around!
